"What were the “game designers” thinking when they created the universe? Are there game designers? If so, how does the scoring system they’ve created work? How do I earn more lifetime happiness points?" I too have similar questions about the design of the game and the possiblity of asigning "numerics" to human emotion. For example you stated, "I pushed my Sim past his comfort levels" and I am wondering what or whom defines that threashold, and isn't that an individualistic determination? I guess that my point is just that I am skeptical of any syntheticaly defined alegory explaining any human emotion.

The game rewards busy, disciplined Sims who wake up in the morning, do chores, go to work. One wonders if the designers are secretly trying to coax us players into living a better, more rewarding lives... I've often noticed that after a few hours of playing the Sims, my brain seems more ready to deal with tasks and chores and the other daily turbulence of life. Of course the game ALSO rewards you for starving, electrocuting, torturing your Sims, but that's just for fun.

Nice post.

I think you can... I never quite got to that point but I came close, it got to the point where anything I tried to make him do he would refuse and try to cook himself something.
